7月27日，有网友发视频怀疑杭州动物园里的熊是人假扮的，原因是熊竟然直立着和游客互动，以及背后有明显的皮毛褶皱。
网友表示，这只熊看起来像人扮的，不像真熊。
A video of a black sun bear at the Hangzhou Zoo in China's Zhejiang province has recently gone viral.
Many netizens noted the animal's upright posture, as well as folds of loose fur on its behind – making the bear look somewhat odd and fueling speculation that a human imposter might be masquerading in its place.
这条视频在网络上引起热议，7月29日，杭州动物园工作人员就做出了回应：“这肯定是实在的动物，肯定不是人扮的。大夏天的温度40度，你再套个皮毛的话，人肯定坚持不了几分钟就要倒下了。”
The zoo staff has denied suggestions that some of its bears were people dressed in costume, saying that "it would not last more than a few minutes before collapsing in Eastern China's extreme summer temperatures."
专家也表示，熊科动物都有站立的能力，尤其是野外的熊，在打斗的时候都会站起来。而马来熊性情比较温和，站起来可能是为了跟游客更好地互动。

7月30日，杭州动物园再次回应，以马来熊“安吉拉”的口吻发了一篇可爱的辟谣文章，向大家仔细科普了马来熊（su

的特征。
In a statement written from the perspective of a sun bear named "Angela," officials from Hangzhou zoo said people "didn't understand" the species.

文章写道：“我是马来熊安吉拉，昨天我下班后，接到园长的电话，问我是不是偷懒没有上班，找了两脚兽来代替我。”
“没想到我熊在山中坐，热搜从天降。有人觉得我站起来的样子人里人气，看来你们是太不了解我。想想之前还有游客觉得我身材娇小不是熊！我再和大家强调一下：我是马来熊
！不是黑熊！不是狗！是马来熊！”
"I'm Angela the sun bear – I got a call after work yesterday from the head of the zoo asking if I was being lazy and skipped work today and found a human to take my place," the statement read.
"Let me reiterate again to everyone that I am a sun bear – not a black bear, not a dog — a sun bear!"

目前，杭州动物园里共有三种熊：黑熊、棕熊和马来熊，且每个区域都有清楚的标识介绍牌。
在现存的8种熊类中，马来熊最少被人研究。也许是因为它们天性害羞，而且栖息地较为偏远，住在东南亚茂密的低地森林中。
These adorable bears are the least studied out of all 8 existing bear species. Maybe this is due to their shy nature and the type of habitat they reside – remote dense lowland forests of South East Asia.

马来熊是世界上最小的熊，身高体型大小和一条大狗差不多，一般体长110～150厘米，成年熊身高可达70厘米；体重在25-65公斤之间，平均体重55公斤。它们与棕熊、黑熊相比是相当的娇小，经常被误认为是黑熊的幼崽。

bears are the world's smallest bear species. Adult bears stand at heights of up to 70 centimeters tall and weigh between 25 to 65 kilograms, experts say.

不过，马来熊与黑熊很容易区分。
最明显的除了体型之外，还有胸前的图案。黑熊胸前是一个白色的“V”字形图案，而马来熊胸前点缀着一块新月型围兜状斑纹，斑纹多呈现浅棕黄色和黄白色。

They do not hibernate and are also characterized by amber colored crescent shaped fur patches on their chests and long tongues which help them extract honey from bee hives.

马来熊主要是夜行动物，白天虽也有活动，但一般会在高树的巢内休息。它们的食物很杂，浆果、无花果、其他种类的水果和昆虫都吃，昆虫里尤其爱吃甲虫、白蚁和蚂蚁。
Sun bears are primarily nocturnal, but daytime activity has been observed in this species. Usually, they scour the forest looking for berries, figs, other varieties of fruits, and insects – especially beetle, termites and ants.
树的高处是马来熊的“绝对领域”。它们的爪子长而弯曲，能够轻松快速地攀爬树干。它们的舌头极长，且喜欢用细长的舌头从蜂巢中舔食蜂蜜。因此，它们还有“蜂蜜熊”的别名。
High up in the trees is where they excel, using their long, curved claws for climbing with ease and speed, and a long, slender tongue for extracting honey from bee nests. Hence, their nickname is "honey bear".

马来熊不仅在马来西亚、越南、泰国等东南亚和南亚一带活动，在我国云南以及西藏也有足迹。它们是世界上最珍贵而稀有的物种之一，被世界自然保护联盟列入易危级别，国家一级重点保护野生动物。
根据世界野生动物基金会的数据，由于东南亚的森林砍伐，马来熊的栖息地大量丧失，同时还经常遭人偷猎。野生马来熊的数量在过去的三十年里下降了35%。珍贵的保护动物成了餐桌上的野味，不得不让人叹息。
Their numbers in the wild are at threat by poachers and deforestation, declining by 35% over the past three decades, according to conservation groups like the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
